Karl Soukup, Bandleader & trp 2
Karl Soukup is currently a full-time lecturer at San Diego State University in the Jazz Studies department where he teaches jazz theory, arranging, and composition and directs Jazz Ensemble II and Combo II. He is also the owner and sole proprietor of Seaside Brass, a talent providing organization active in San Diego since 1997. Karl is also the bandleader of The Chameleons and he regularly contributes original music scores and produces shows for the world famous San Diego Zoo. His most recent works include the Jambo Parade, which can be viewed during the summer, and Aurora, a live action and projection-mapping show with full orchestral score which can be viewed in winter time during the Jungle Bells event. Billy Edwall, trp 1
Billy Edwall is a top-call lead trumpeter based in San Diego, CA. In addition to performing with BOOMF! and The Chameleons, Billy has performed with Sea World Sea Street Band and Christmas Brass, the Top Shelf Brass Band, the Gaslamp Quarter Jazz Orchestra, and a number of musical theatres such as San Diego Musical Theatre. He is also the band leader for Dapper Dixie. Currently he is working towards a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance at San Diego State University. For more info, check out www.billyedwall.com
Andrew Elstob, trp 3
Originally from Monterey, CA, trumpet player Andrew Elstob enjoys a career that encompasses a wide variety of musical styles and ensembles, from symphony orchestras to big bands, musical theater to chamber music. Andrew has played for most of the current and past touring Broadway productions. He’s also played alongside such notable artists as The Who, Idina Menzel, Don Rickles, Johnny Mathis, Chita Rivera, Wynonna Judd, John Lithgow, Lou Rawls, and George Takei. Additionally, he has performed with many of the top music ensembles in So Cal, including the San Diego Symphony, Seaside Brass, and the San Diego Zoo’s Chameleons Band. He currently works for Paul Effman Music Services and teaches band at several private schools in San Diego. Andrew earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with an emphasis in trumpet performance at San Diego State University. In his free time, Andrew enjoys being with his wife, son, daughter and two dogs, working out at the gym and cheering on his San Francisco Giants, 49ers and Golden State Warriors.
